Cedar Fork Policy

Arrival:
Students may arrive between 8:45 and 9:05 AM. Breakfast is served during this twenty-minute period for students who would like to eat their breakfast at school. The cost of breakfast is $.80. The instructional day begins at 9:05 AM, so it is very important that parents ensure their children arrive in plenty of time in order to be "ready to learn" at 9:05 AM. A calm, non-rushed morning is better for everyone, so please try to set that kind of routine for your whole family.

Dismissal:
The school day ends at 3:45 PM. with the exception of Wednesday and dismissal on that day is 2:45 PM. Students will be dismissed in three different ways: walkers, carpool, and bus. If you know you will have difficulty picking your children up at this time, please make arrangements for after-school care, either at the Cedar Fork Community Center or at one of the other child care centers in the area.

Kindergarten Parents:
Staggered Entry means that your child will attend just one full day of school during the first five days of school. (August 25, 26, 27 and 28.)
August 25 - First Day of School for 1st thru 5th Grade Students - Staggered Entry for K students
August 31 - First Full day for all Kindergarten students

Absences/Late Arrival:
Please write a note to your child's classroom teacher indicating the reason for your child's absence upon his/her return. When a student arrives late, you are asked to sign him/her in at the front office.

Medications:
School officials may administer medication to students if the "Parent Request and Physician Order for Medication" form (1702) is completed and in the possession of school officials (Form 1702 is available at the school office) or if the parents send a note requesting that staff administer antibiotics or other medications to be taken during the last days of an acute illness. In this case, the pharmacist's or physician's label, which must be on the bottle, serves as the physician's order.
No medication will be given by a school official unless it is in a container dispensed by a pharmacy with the student's name, name of medication, the date the prescription was filled, and directions clearly marked.

At the elementary level, no self-medication, including over-the-counter medicine, is permitted.

Parents are responsible for transporting all medicines to school unless special arrangements are made with the Principal or it is an emergency medicine that the child has permission to keep with him.
